ANALYSING VISIBILITY
::Algorithm::
The script works by emitting rays in a 360 degree range, from every point on a sampling grid, and subsequently calculating the ratio of total rays emitted to those intersected by the environment. It doesn't account for when the intersection occurred, secondary bounces etc. As such, it is just a quick, estimative tool.
The data is visualised using the blindDataShader plug-in. The source code for the plug-in ships with the Maya installation. Prior attempts used the in- built blind Data Editor and polyColorBlindData methods. The plug-in seems to work faster, and allows greater control over managing color-space.Further, since it is a shading node, it could potentially be altered to be render-able. It isn't at the moment.
